my approach

I practice therapy primarily from a psychodynamic, relational approach informed by the following tenets:

  • The ways in which we’ve been deeply wounded form an unconscious blueprint to navigating our present.

  • Our past relationships shape our current interpersonal patterns, challenges, defense mechanisms, and our understanding of ourselves and our world.

  • A large part of healing consists of understanding how our past may be actively influencing our present.

Additionally, I lean on learnings from internal family systems therapy, mindfulness, trauma-informed theories, and emotion-focused therapy.

Our work together will emphasize bringing greater awareness of the unconscious and boldly determining pathways to authenticity and healing. Ultimately, I strive to always hold and witness my clients’ pain and to compassionately + cooperatively untangle what my client may need to work to accept vs change.
