my approach
I practice therapy primarily from a psychodynamic, relational approach informed by the following tenets:
The ways in which we’ve been deeply wounded form an unconscious blueprint to navigating our present.
Our past relationships shape our current interpersonal patterns, challenges, defense mechanisms, and our understanding of ourselves and our world.
A large part of healing consists of understanding how our past may be actively influencing our present.
Additionally, I lean on learnings from internal family systems therapy, mindfulness, trauma-informed theories, and emotion-focused therapy.
Our work together will emphasize bringing greater awareness of the unconscious and boldly determining pathways to authenticity and healing. Ultimately, I strive to always hold and witness my clients’ pain and to compassionately + cooperatively untangle what my client may need to work to accept vs change.
