my approach to the systems enveloping us

We exist in both ways at once… We choose the world, and the world chooses us.
— Maurice Merleau-Ponty

There is beauty and empowerment in this idea of reciprocity. But sometimes the world does not choose us, in very painful and tangible ways. A person or group of people can imbue meaning onto your race, gender, sexuality, religion, neurodiversity and countless other characteristics, often in ways that reject rather than embrace you.

I strive to be a counselor who recognizes this dynamic and invites you to bring it into our room so we can examine, grieve, and process.
