My approach to the systems enveloping us
“We exist in both ways at once… We choose the world, and the world chooses us.”
There is beauty and empowerment in this idea of reciprocity. But sometimes the world does not choose us, in very painful and tangible ways. A person or group of people can imbue meaning onto your race, gender, sexuality, religion, neurodiversity and countless other characteristics, often in ways that reject rather than embrace you.
I strive to be a counselor who recognizes this dynamic and invites you to bring it into our room so we can examine, grieve, process, and take action as needed.
